GEBCO One Minute Grid
23 June 2006
BODC launch an improved download facility that allows you to obtain data from the GEBCO One Minute Grid. Data are available in the form of netCDF files and you may opt to download
- Data for a user-defined area. The area may be selected via an interactive map or a form
- The complete global grid file
- Multiple image and/or data files in the form of 20 degree square tiles
You are required to register as a 'BODC web user' prior to accessing these data. This quick and easy process will enable us to match your details with your data licence agreement and assess the users needs in future developments.
What is GEBCO?
The goal of the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) project is to provide the most authoritative, publicly-available bathymetry for the world's oceans. Originally published in chart form, GEBCO is now maintained at BODC in the form of a digital atlas.
The GEBCO Digital Atlas (GDA)
The GDA contains the GEBCO One Minute Grid which provides bathymetry data on a global grid with a one arc-minute spacing. The GDA also contains a global set of digital bathymetric contours and coastlines. The data sets are accompanied by full documentation and interface software.
