Reference Level

All heights have been referred to the station tide staff zero which is linked to fixed benchmarks. The 1968-72 data have not been linked to the remaining series with either geodetic leveling or data overlap. However the long term difference with Kwajalein suggests these two segments at Majuro are on the same level. Use discretion.

Tide Gauge Benchmark (TGBM) Description

BenchmarkDescription
BM1The SS bolt has no stamp and is embedded in concrete on the roadway to the dock, next to the curb. It is about 2 ft south of tide station foundation.
BM2The SS bolt is embedded in the corner of a concrete slab by the electrical vault, which is on the north west side of the freezer of fishery pier.
BM4The SS bolt has no stamp and is embedded into the concrete curb of the copra dock road way. It is situated at the top of the incline just past the power station pump house.
BM3This has been replaced by BM3A, and can be found on the rise near the guard rail in the south western corner of freezer plant, five feet from BM3.

Comment

The daily and monthly means reveal no apparent changes in the reference level and agree with Ponape.

Timing accuracy was no better than plus or minus 7 minutes prior to 1983.
