Reference Level

The analog data received at the UH Sea Level Center (UHSLC) contained numerous level shifts for the period of 1990 through 1992, although the 1993 - 1996 data have a stable reference level.The equivalent data received via satellite at the UH was used as the primary source for 1990 through 01 September 1992. Otherwise, the analog series is the primary channel.

The site consists of a network of bench marks which are surveyed to the installation by SHOA. The series is separate from A and B because a definitive link has not been established between the reference levels of each series.

The series for 8/1990 to 27/04/93 were adjusted by adding 120 mm. This adjustment is uncertain to within a few cm. The mean level of the final series agrees well with Valparaiso and Caldera.

Based on information provided on geodetic surveys, the series was adjusted by adding -2008 mm from 05Z 15 March 1995 - 31 December 1996.

Tide Gauge Benchmark (TGBM) Description

BM No. 3 - It is a 9cm bronze disk stamped CF 3, set in cement at the right side of the basement of the passenger pier.

Auxiliary Benchmarks

BM No. 6 - It is a 6cm bronze disk stamped CF 6 set in cement at the base of the flag pole front to 'Capitania de Puerto' building.

Quality Assessment by the UH Sea Level Center

Comment

The phase of the timing appears steady although the analog data from 9-12/92 show minor drifts in timing on the order of 7 minutes or less.
