PurposeResearch
ObjectivesA. To recover and deploy a CEFAS Waverider buoy at the Mersey Bar (53 32.05 N, 3 21.2 W).

B. To recover and deploy a ADCP/ADV mooring and a CEFAS Smartbuoy at 53 32 N, 3 21.8 W

C. To recover and deploy an ADCP mooring and a Smartbuoy at 53 27 N, 3 38.6 W

D. To conduct a 25-hour survey of CTD profiles and water samples at 3 32 N, 3 21.8 W

E. To obtain CTD profiles, water samples and sediment grab samples at the Coastal Observatory sites.

F. Collect bathymetry data of the CTD grid covered in (E) using multibeam swath echosounder.

The cruise is the 53rd in a series starting in August 2002 to maintain the moorings in objectives (B) and (C) and to steam round a CTD grid in Liverpool Bay/the eastern Irish Sea, objective (E).
