    Reference Level:                                                            
    All  heights  have been referred to the station tide staff  zero  which  is 
    linked to fixed benchmarks. This gauge is located about 100 yards from Port 
    Victoria-A yet it is not levelled to the same bench marks.                  
                                                                                
                                                                                
    Quality Assessment:                                                         
                                                                                
    Comment: The  daily and monthly means do not reveal any  obvious  reference 
             level shifts or trends  and  agree well  with  the  nearest  site, 
             Praslin, except for possible reference level shifts on Apr 23 1990 
             (-15 cm), Aug 16 1990 (+10 cm) and Jan 21-28 1991 (+15 cm).
