About the GEBCO Digital Atlas
GEBCO is an international project under the joint auspices of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
Originally published in chart form, the GEBCO chart series is now maintained at BODC in the form of a digital atlas — the GEBCO Digital Atlas (GDA). The Centenary Edition of the GEBCO Digital Atlas is its third release and is a substantial revision of the earlier issues from 1994 and 1997.
Originally released in April 2003, the Centenary Edition of the GDA has been updated to include the GEBCO_08 Grid as well as the GEBCO One Minute Grid.
As with previous releases, the GDA includes a global set of digital bathymetric contours, coastlines and trackline control information and a copy of the IHO/IOC Gazetteer of Geographic Names of Undersea Features.
The GDA comes with a Microsoft Windows software interface. This allows you to view the GEBCO bathymetry in a variety of forms and projections and to select and download the data sets for use in your own applications. Full documentation is included on the DVD in the form of a set of user guides to the GDA and its data sets.
