Data submitted to the CLIVAR Moored Instrument Data Assembly Centre at
BODC go through several steps before they are incorporated in the CLIVAR
database. After data are received they are converted to a common format
(netCDF) and quality controlled using automated and visual methods. Comprehensive
metadata and data documentation are compiled describing the data and any
problems encountered to increase the future usability of the data. The aim
of quality control is to ensure that the data are of a consistent standard
and to guarantee their long-term safeguarding and utilization. For more
details of procedures, see BODC
moored instrument data processing.
