Climate Variability and Predictability (CLIVAR)

BODC processing

Sea level data

Data submitted to the sea level Data Assembly Centre (DAC) at BODC go through several steps before they are incorporated in the CLIVAR database. After data are received by BODC they are converted to a common format (netCDF) and quality controlled using our in-house developed visual analysis software, Edteva. Metadata and documentation are compiled and the data are archived. The aim of quality control is to ensure the data are of a consistent standard and to guarantee the long-term safeguarding and utilization of the data. The procedures for processing sea level data are similar to those used in moored instrument data processing.
