Marine and Freshwater Microbial Biodiversity (M&FMB)

BODC processing

All data received by BODC are checked for quality, loaded into an Oracle database and permanently archived.

With M&FMB genetic data, Genbank accession numbers generated from environmental DNA or RNA samples will be linked to their original sampling event. This is to enable researchers to put the genetic information into the context of the environment in which it was found.

Data are subject to a period of confidentiality at the submitter's discretion.

A CDROM containing an easily searchable record of M&FMB data will be published in September 2005.
