Bench salinometer measurements from CTD bottle and underway non-toxic supply samples collected during AMT15

Originator's Protocol for Data Acquisition and Analysis

A Guildline 8400B Laboratory Salinometer (BAS) was used to determine the salinity of all bottle samples. The instrument was located in the Stable Laboratory and operated at 24 o C bath temperature and 21 o C to 24 o C ambient lab temperature. A total of 144 samples either from CTD casts or the ship's non-toxic supply were processed. All samples were processed according to WOCE standards and protocols.

BODC Data Processing Procedures

Data were submitted in an Excel file and archived under BODC's accession number PML040131. Sample metadata were provided, cast and rosette bottle number for CTD bottle samples and date and time (UT) for underway samples and matched to the database. There was one discrepancy: one of the underway samples did not have date/time information provided with it and this data has not been loaded to the database.

No unit conversion was necessary as the units the data were supplied in the files matched the units for the parameter codes in the BODC Parameter Dictionary.

A parameter mapping table is provided below;
