PurposeResearch
ObjectivesThe cruise is part of the ICES International Herring Larvae Surveys 2004/2005. Gear used: plankton sampler (Nackthai). The samples are taken on a standard grid (Stations are 10 nm apart). Additional sampling is planned to map the distribution and abundance of cod and plaice eggs in the southern North Sea for a newly-initiated ICES survey. Stations will be the same as for the Herring Larvae Survey, gear used is a plankton sampler (Nackthai or Bongo). Additional sampling is intended to get informations on vertical and horizontal stratification of zoo- and ichthyoplankton. For this purpose an optical sampling device is used (Ichthyoplanktonrecorder IPR).
