| Objectives | The purpose of this study is to compare different methods for the monitoring of harbour porpoise abundance and distribution. To do this a visual boat survey on pre-designed tracklines is conducted. Simultaneously a hydrophone array is towed at 200m behind the boat. This passive array records harbour porpoises as well as other cetaceans such as dolphins. To correlate porpoise distribution with environmental parameters CTD samples are taken. |
