Objectives | This cruise was designed to investigate the distribution of demersal fish species in relation to abiotic and biotic habitat parameters. The survey area covered the western and southern North Sea, with a large portion of stations placed along transects from shore to offshore, perpendicular to the depth contours. Further transects were included around the Dogger Bank and the English Channel to cover additional areas of interest for fish distribution and migration.
On daytime stations, fisheries hauls with a GOV otter board trawl were coupled with hauls with a 2-m beam trawl for epibenthos, and with hydrographic measurements. During night time, operation with the newly obtained sampling platform TRIAXUS were planned, but had to be terminated after an instrument damage at the end of the first night of sampling. From then on, hauls with the MIK net were conducted during night to obtain data on zooplankton distribution. |
