ObjectivesThe objectives of this cruise were to:
(1) To undertake a near-bottom float dispersion experiment at a depth of around 4500m 160 miles west of Madeira supported by CTD stations and a bathymetric survey.
(2) To deploy near-bottom instruments including a VACM/camera tripod, BENCAT (benthic currents and temperatures) and an IOS Bidston tide gauge.
(3) To study east Atlantic deep circulation by working a N-S hydrographic section along 24W between 29N and 24N and a hydrographic section between 24N, 24W and 15N, 17W.
