1. To establish the influence of the sandbank field on regional water flow patterns, which have important implications on the modelling of residual flow and dispersion in this area.
2. In terms of process studies, to understand the mechanisms involved in the formation and maintainance of linear sandbanks, with particular reference to sand and water movement.
