PurposeResearch
Objectives1) To collect baseline data on hydrocarbons in selected components of the ecosystem in the region of the North Sea oil fields
2) To collect water and plankton samples for PCB analysis (Mr Holden)
3) To collect nutrient-free seawater (Mr Burns)
4) Operations for surface film, subsurface water and zooplankton from the upper water were done whenever possible from a small boat at least 200 m clear of the ship
5) Water and sediment samples were collected in duplicate at selected stations for intercalibration work with Norway
