Icebergs in the South Atlantic (1981); Sea ice in North West Weddell Sea (1986); Fast ice in McMurdo Sound (1986); Sea ice in the Weddell Sea (1989); Sea ice in the Amundsen and Ross Seas (1994)

Observations
Parameters

Ice motion and related parameters; Wave height and period statistics

Instruments

Wave recorders; accelerometers; snow and ice samplers

Description
Summary

Arrays of accelerometers, tiltmeters and strainmeters were deployed on icebergs, fast ice and sea ice to determine the wave field propagating through the ice. Sometimes simultaneous measurements of the ocean wave spectra were made to assess the wave attenuation due to the ice.
