Description
Summary

Data from one ocean glider deployment over the Northwest Iberian margin. Measurements include temperature, salinity, density, chlorophyll a fluorescence, dissolved oxygen concentration and dive average currents. The data were collected during summer 2010 offshore of Vigo, Spain. The glider completed over 1000 dives to 1000 m depth over the slope and 200 m depth over the shelf. The dataset was processed using the University of East Anglia (UEA) Seaglider toolbox, with comparison to co-located CTD casts and Winkler bottle samples by the RV Mytilus for sensor calibration. The goal of the dataset was to monitor changes to water properties and biogeochemical variables during cycles of upwelling. During the 2 month deployment, 2 periods of upwelling were observed. As one of UEA’s first glider deployments, one aim of the study was to test whether a glider could collect biogeochemical data of similar quality to a ship survey across the shelf break. The dataset was collected by investigators of the University of East Anglia and represent a complete time series from the glider deployment.
