Description
Summary

Sea wave data were recorded 3 hourly at West Bexington, Chesil Beach, Dorset, using a pressure transducer in approximately 10 metres of water. Significant wave height has been corrected for attenuation of pressure due to depth using Classical Linear Theory. Data analysis gives significant wave height (metres), zero crossing wave period (seconds) and approximate water depth (metres). Gaps in the data are due to cable damage between the instrument and the shore, electrical power supply failures and magnetic tape problems. The pressure transducer was mounted in a tripod, level with the seabed. The accuracy of the wave data is +/-5 per cent.
