Description
Summary

The project objectives are: - to follow the dynamics of chlorophyll - to detect phytoplankton blooms - to give early warning when phytoplankton blooms occur - to monitor long-term fluctuations in chlorophyll amounts - to evaluate fluctuations in chlorophyll amounts Chlorophyll is monitored at the sampling site Anholt E. The sampling station is included in the HELCOM Combine programme. Frequency of sampling is 20-25 times per year, with a lower intensity during the winter months. Samples for quantitative phytoplankton analysis, primary production, water chemistry and physics are obtained simultaneously. Between August 1989 and December 1996, with some interruptions, chlorophyll was monitored at the sampling station Hallands Vadero, located in the outer part of Laholm Bay. Data from simultaneous sampling for water physics/chemistry are stored at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI.
