Description
Summary

The 'Coastal Plans Inventory' is a list of the plans and other documents involved in the management of Scotland's Coastline and is published as a database and covering report on our web site. It has been prepared because of the recognition that many documents, both statutory and non-statutory, exist and in some way contribute to the management of the coast but that an overview was lacking. On the basis of submitted questionnaires, invited from a wide range of statutory and non-statutory bodies during 2000, the database records details of 462 documents that have been classified under a number of headings. The intention is to undertake a review of the database in 2 years (2003). All data are based on information provided to Scottish Coastal Forum and, whereas care was taken in its presentation, it is acknowledged that the database gives a snap shot in time and may not be complete as regards the total number of plans in place and also the detail given about them. Nevertheless, it is the first such national overview.
