Supplying data

Data should be supplied in an ASCII format (Download pdf of European Sea Level format description document 17 kB) which is based on the ESEAS version 1 format and the Global Extreme Sea Level Analysis (GESLA) format .

A validator tool is available on request to tide gauge operators, so that they can check their data files comply, before making them available through the data portal.

The sea level data retains the original sampling intervals. Where indicated, the data have undergone GLOSS quality control procedures and have been flagged to indicate good, missing, bad or interpolated values.

The header information in the data files are terms taken from controlled vocabularies. These lists are hosted by the NERC Data Grid vocabulary server.
