Partners and advisory board

SIMORC brings together major oil and gas companies who own the data sets and partners who are skilled in oceanographic data management, made up of
- Mariene Informatie Service (MARIS)
- The International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP)
- British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC)
- Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-IODE)
Currently, data sets owned by six major oil and gas companies (Shell, TOTAL, BP, Hydro, Statoil and Chevron) will be made available, but others may join during the project's lifetime.
An Advisory Board has been set up to review and advise on the achievements and orientation of the project. This panel is made up of experts from seven international bodies, national organisations and user groups. These include
- European Association of Agencies to further the goals of the Global Ocean Observing System (EuroGOOS)
- European oil and gas innovation forum (Eurogif)
- Mediterranean Forecasting System Towards Environmental Predictions (MFSTEP)
- European Centre for Information on Marine Science and Technology (EurOcean)
- Marine Environment and Security for the European Area (MERSEA project)
- Met Office
- National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (NOCS)
