DIMES data delivery
Search
Fully processed DIMES data are accessible from this user interface. If access permissions allow, the data will be available for auto-download. Data delivered by BODC are for the use of the enquirer only, and must not be sent to any third parties. The source of the data (scientist responsible) must be acknowledged in any resulting publications.
To maximise usage the DIMES data are also made available for download, alongside all other data held in the National Oceanographic Database (NODB). Please note that access to the data may be restricted to DIMES participants and data will not be provided to parties outside the programme without explicit written agreement from the data originator. BODC can liaise with the data originators to arrange permissions for interested parties.
Requests for other DIMES data should be directed to Richenda Houseago-Stokes at BODC.
Search help
Please use the search tab filters together with the interactive map and the paginated table of results to find data sets of interest. Choose a file format, select your data and add the data to your basket. Repeat the process on each page of results as required. View your basket and proceed to the checkout to initiate your request. Automated access control procedures and delivery file preparation will begin following a successful 'checkout'.
Map help
The interactive map provides the means to display the results of your search, it lets you draw a box to define a geographic area of interest or to select data. You can change the base layer and select optional overlays to show spatial coverage for a variety of data types presented as polygons (areas), points, or track lines as illustrated in the image below.
Prior to any search filters being applied the map shows the data described in the first page of the table of results. You can click on the map symbols for more information about the data. As data are selected the symbols displayed on the map change from pink to yellow.
As you step through the pages or adjust the search filters, the map and table of results respond accordingly.
Map tools
- The navigation tool (top left) lets you zoom in ('+') or zoom out ('-') within the map. If you have a mouse-wheel, this can also be used to zoom in and out.
- Pan is available by left-clicking the mouse and dragging the map to the desired location.
- Use Shift+click and drag a box to define an area of interest for a geographic search. Alternatively, type the coordinates in the space provided below the map.
- Use Shift+Alt+click and drag a box to select data within the box
- The choice of base layers and overlays can be found by clicking the '+' symbol on the right-hand side of the map.
