  • Applied Ocean Research - Encourages the submission of papers that advance the state of knowledge in topics relevant to ocean engineering. Published by Elsevier.
  • Atmosphere-Ocean - Results of original research, survey articles, notes and comments on published papers in all fields of atmospheric, oceanographic, and hydrological science. Published by the Canadian Meteorological And Oceanographic Society.
  • Botanica Marina - Covers the entire field of marine botany including marine microbiology and marine mycology. Its purpose is to disseminate original knowledge, to provide synopses of global or interdisciplinary interest, and to stress aspects of utilisation.
  • Bulletin of Marine Science - Dedicated to the dissemination of high-quality research on tropical and subtropical ocean waters. All aspects of marine science are covered, including marine biology, biological oceanography, fisheries, marine affairs, applied marine physics, marine geology and geophysics, marine and atmospheric chemistry, and meteorology and physical oceanography. Published by the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami.
  • Continental Shelf Research - Articles dealing with the results of original research in physical oceanography, chemistry, ecology and sedimentology, together with contributions on applications of continental shelf research. An Elsevier Science Journal.
  • Dynamics of Atmospheres and Oceans - Publishes research articles on the fluid dynamics of atmospheres and oceans and their interactions, dynamical processes and climatic and biogeochemical problems in which fluid dynamics play an essential role. An Elsevier Science Journal.
  • Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science - International multidisciplinary journal analysing saline water phenomena from the outer edge of the continental shelf to the upper limits of the tidal zone.
  • Fisheries Oceanography - Sponsored by the Japanese Society for Fisheries Oceanography, this international journal is designed to present a forum for the exchange of information amongst fisheries scientists worldwide.
  • Geo-Marine Letters - International journal for the publication of short, original studies and reviews dealing with all aspects of marine geology.
  • Glaucus - Former journal of the British Marine Life Study Society. The term Glaucus originates from Greek mythology and means 'the colour of the sea'.
  • International Ocean Systems - Covers the design and implementation of international ocean systems, guided by an editorial board of distinguished ocean professionals.
  • Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans - Comprehensive interdisciplinary journal containing original contributions on the physics and chemistry of the Earth and its environment and also the solar system.
  • Journal of Marine Systems - Journal providing a medium of exchange for those engaged in marine research where there exists an interplay between geology, chemistry, biology and physics. An Elsevier Science Journal.
  • Journal of Plankton Research - Publishes papers dealing with both zoo- and phytoplankton, in marine, freshwater and brackish environments. Published by Oxford University Press.
  • Journal of Sea Research - An international and multidisciplinary periodical on marine research, with an emphasis on marine ecosystems. An Elsevier Science Journal published in collaboration with the Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ)
  • Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the UK - An international journal with a worldwide distribution publishing original research on all aspects of marine biology. It includes current international research developments and features much of the pioneering work taking place today on major issues concerning marine organisms and their environment.
  • Limnology and Oceanography - Founded in 1956 and, according to the Science Citation Index, the most frequently cited journal in both fields. Published by The American Society of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO).
  • Marine Biology - International journal on life in oceans and coastal waters. Published by Springer.
  • Marine Biotechnology - Articles on molecular and cellular biology of marine life and its technological applications. Published by Springer.
  • Marine Chemistry - International medium for the publication of original studies and occasional reviews in the field of chemistry in the marine environment, with emphasis on the dynamic approach.
  • Marine Ecology Progress Series - A worldwide forum for all aspects of marine ecology, fundamental and applied. Covers microbiology, botany, zoology, ecosystem research, biological oceanography, ecological aspects of fisheries and aquaculture, pollution, environmental protection, conservation and resource management. Published by John Wiley & Sons.
  • Marine Environmental Research - Original research papers on chemical, physical and biological interactions in the oceans and coastal waters. The journal serves as a forum for new information on biology, chemistry, and toxicology. Published by Elsevier.
  • Marine Fisheries Review - Online contents of journal with articles available in PDF format for download. Publication of NMFS Scientific Publications Office.
  • Marine Geodesy - Covering topography and mapping, satellite altimetry, bathymetry, positioning, precise navigation, boundary demarcation and determination, tsunamis, plate/tectonics, geoid determination, acoustics and space instrumentation, ground truth and system calibration.
  • Marine Geology - International journal reporting on developments in the fields of marine geology, geochemistry and geophysics. As well as original studies and comprehensive reviews, it also has a letters section that publishes short papers.
  • Marine Pollution Bulletin - Concerned with the rational use of maritime and marine resources in estuaries, the seas and oceans. It also documents marine pollution, introducing new forms of measurement and analysis.
  • Marine Technology Society Journal - Provides engineers, scientists and policymakers with original research and selected review papers on ocean engineering, science and policy concerns.
  • Marine and Freshwater Research - Research in physical oceanography, marine chemistry, marine and estuarine biology and limnology. The Journal is distributed to over 80 countries. CSIRO Publishing.
  • Ocean & Coastal Management - International journal dedicated to the study of all aspects of ocean and coastal management at local, regional, national and international levels. Published by Elsevier.
  • Ocean Dynamics - Articles with an interdisciplinary character that encompass research in the fields of biological, chemical and physical oceanography from a theoretical, computational and/or observational perspective. Published by Springer.
  • Ocean Engineering - Provides a medium for the publication of original research and development work in this field. Published by Elsevier.
  • Ocean Modelling Online - Main objective is to provide rapid communication between those interested in ocean modelling, whether through direct observation, or through analytical, numerical or laboratory models, including interactions between physical and biogeochemical or biological phenomena.
  • Oceanographic Literature Review - An annotated bibliography to the international research literature in all fields of oceanography including science, mathematics and methods as well as policy, laws, economics and resource management. Contains 8000 citations per year, all accompanied by an abstract.
  • Oceanography - Promotes and chronicles all aspects of ocean science and its applications. Publishes brief articles, critical essays and concise reviews dealing with topics of broad interests to the ocean-science community. Also solicits and publishes news and information, meeting reports, book reviews and other items of interest.
  • Oceanologia - Quarterly journal of basic research in marine sciences with emphasis on Northern Europe.
  • Oceanology - Leading journal in marine science. Publishes original papers in all fields of theoretical and experimental research in physical, chemical, biological, geological and technical oceanology. Also offers reviews and information about conferences, symposia, cruises and other events of interest.
  • Oceanus Magazine - Semi-annual report on research at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). Written by WHOI scientists and their colleagues and edited for a lay audience, with full-colour photographs and illustrations. Each issue provides several articles on a single theme.
  • Oecologia - Publishes innovative ecological research of general interest to a broad international audience.
  • Paleoceanography - Focuses on original contributions dealing with the marine sedimentary record from the present ocean basins and margins and from exposures of ancient marine sediments on the continents.
  • Progress in Oceanography - Publishes longer, more comprehensive papers that most oceanographers feel are necessary, on occasion, to do justice to their work. Contributions are generally either a review of an aspect of oceanography or a treatise on an expanding oceanographic subject.
  • Sarsia - An international marine biological journal, published by the Department of Fisheries and Marine Biology at the University of Bergen and the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research.
  • Shore & Beach - Refereed journal of the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association. Published quarterly.
