Objectives and Narrative JC005 was a trials cruise. The principal objectives were:

a) To undertake deep-water trials on the oceanographic winch systems installed in James Cook in order to verify satisfactory completion of post commissioning adjustments and remedial work.

b) To conduct an investigation into the prevalence and behaviour of under hull aeration using hull mounted underwater video cameras in conjunction with the operation of acoustic survey instruments installed in the vessel.
