The BODC current meter index provides access to all current data held in our National Oceanographic Database. It includes entries for

• Moored Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP)
• Other moored current meters
• Shipborne ADCP
• Lowered ADCP

An interactive map is provided below to enable you to assess our current meter holdings before entering our data request area.

Currently, the current meter index includes 7873 data series from 65 different organisations.

Within our data request area you will be able to build your search, select data series, modify your selection and opt to receive the data as BODC netCDF and/or ASCII format before submitting your final request to us for processing. On receipt of your request, we will retrieve the data sets and documentation from our database and send them to you, or place them on our anonymous FTP area.

Please note — our all data series facility allows you to retrieve data directly from our web site. It provides access to all data (including current meter data) held in our National Oceanographic Database.

The interactive map

The interactive map displays all of our current data. Most data are available immediately, some may require that we negotiate their release and others are currently restricted for the use by the originator and/or to a project.

The interactive map displays data series which

• are available immediately
• have permanent restrictions and will require negotiation before their release
• are restricted to the originator and/or project for a limited time

 

Map tools
		Zoom in		Zoom into an area on the map, by either Left clicking the mouse on a single point on the map. A new map is displayed, zoomed in and centred on the chosen point. Clicking and dragging a rectangular box around the area you're interested in. A new map with a larger scale will be displayed.
		Zoom out		Click or drag a rectangle on the map to zoom out.
		Pan		Click on the map, drag and drop the cursor to pan to another part of the map that is outside the current view.
		Zoom to full extent		Zoom out to the full geographic extent of the map.
		Zoom to previous extent		Zoom to the previous geographic extent of the map.
		Toggle dms format		Toggle the display of the cursor position between degrees minutes and seconds and decimal degrees.
		Help		Displays or hides this help information.
