Services at risk - ongoing [more]
To foster a coordinated and expert approach to data management, BODC has forged partnerships with the following research centres
- British Antarctic Survey (BAS)
BAS is one of the world's leading environmental research centres and is responsible for the UK's national scientific activities in Antarctica. Find out more about our partnership with BAS.
- National Oceanography Centre (NOC)
The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) was formed on 1 April 2010 by bringing together the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (NOCS) and the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory (POL) in Liverpool. It works in close partnership with the wider marine science community to create the integrated research capability needed to tackle the big environment issues facing the world.
- Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML)
PML conducts world-class, national and international research from the heads of estuaries to the open ocean. It provides scientific research, contract services and advice for the marine environment, with a focus on gaining a better understanding of how marine ecosystems function, their sustainability and role within the Earth system. Find out more about our partnership with PML.
- Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS)
SAMS is an internationally-renowned marine research establishment. Its research activities encompass the entire breadth of marine science and it focuses much of its research activities on multidisciplinary research questions from Scottish coastal waters to the Arctic Ocean. Find out more about our partnership with SAMS.
- Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU)
SMRU provides the UK’s main science capability in the field of marine mammal biology. Its research spans a variety of disciplines ranging from mammal behaviour and ecology to the designing and building of oceanographic instruments that are carried by seals. It has a special responsibility to undertake research to underpin the Conservation of Seals Act 1970. Find out more about our partnership with SMRU.
