Objectives and Narrative |
The main objectives of the mission were:
- to obtain synoptic fall observations of the hydrography and the distributions of nutrients, phytoplankton, zooplankton and bacteria along three sections on the Scotian Shelf and one in Cabot Strait, i.e. to carry out the fall Atlantic Zone Monitoring Programme (AZMP). - to retrieve and deploy moorings along a portion of the Halifax Line in the slope waters of the central Scotian Shelf and to take hydrographic profiles and collect water samples at mooring stations. This part of the programme was in collaboration with members of the UK RAPID-WAVE (West Atlantic Variability Experiment) programme. During the first leg of the cruise the mooring work in the slope waters of the Halifax Line was done in collaboration with the scientists from the UK RAPID programme. All but one of the moorings was recovered. |
