| Objectives and Narrative | The cruise was designed to provide the main set of biological samples of plankton and micronekton for the study of the meandering frontal system between Eastern Atlantic Water and the Western Atlantic Water to the south-west of the Azores. The cruise was a follow up of the joint physical and biological cruise undertaken in late autumn 1980, and the preceeding two cruises during which physical observations were made and when the distribution of nutrient and fluorescence were studied in relation to the front as well as mapping and some biological sampling. |
