Objectives and Narrative UK contribution to OMEX to quantify the biologically mediated cross-slope exchanges and vertical fluxes of biogenic material in the region of the Goban Spur.
Main Tasks:
1. 2 x SeaSoar survey to investigate hydrographic structure of region
2. Net sampling to study the data and night vertical distribution of macroplankton and micronekton.
3. Observe patterns of acoustic back-scatter using ship-borne ADCP; and 'sea-truthing' of data using LHPR net samples.
4. Asses marine snow distribution and abundance, using sediment trap moorings, cameras and large water bottles.
5. Evaluate cross-slope changes in phytoplankton and microzooplankton.
