Objectives and Narrative |
1. To investigate the physicochemical feature of the upper ocean with a 10x50km SeaSoar survey with particular reference to the oxygen minimum.
2. To study the distribution patterns of zooplankton and micronekton using ADCp with LHPR and RMT sampling. 3. To determine the nutrient budget for the region by means of CTD profiles from the surface to the bottom, in a box of stations surrounding the SeaSoar survey. 4. To collect data on the optical characteristics of the upper water column, using instruments mounte dof the CTD, SeaSoar and Lightfish. 5. To investigate the vertical distribution of bioluminescence in pumpre profiles, and the biochemical characteristics of some of the bioluminescent organisms. 6. To carry out a predetermined suite of measurements at the Arabesque reference station at the start and end of the cruise. |
