| Objectives and Narrative |
Working WOCE hydrographic section A24.
Warm Water Entry and Transformation Within the Subpolar North Atlantic. Hydrographic cruise enclosing a large portion of the North Atlantic Sub Polar Gyre (SPG) between Greenland and the Azores. Hydrographic survey consisted of CTD/rosette sections between the Azores and Greenland. 153 stations were occupied. Water samples (up to 31) and CTD data were collected in most cases to within 10 m of the bottom. Measurements consisted of salinity, dissolved oxygen and nutrient (nitrite, nitrate, phosphaet and silicate) measurements made from bottles taken on CTD/rosette casts plus pressure temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen from CTD profiles. During the cruise 1 URI RAFOS mooring, 12 ALACE floats, 17 Rafos floats and 45 XBT's were deployed. |
