Introduction

This report collates information from the BODC cruise inventory and oceanographic databases. It presents

Cruise Inventory Information

Long name RV Melville cruise 318MWESTW_5
Short name 318MWESTW_5
Objectives and Narrative This cruise occupied a series of CTD/O2 (Conductivity-Temperature-Depth-Oxygen) stations approximately along 17° S from the continental shelf of Peru to the continental shelf of Australia. High quality water-property data was collected in order to help define the pattern of circulation in the South Pacific. Measurements of temperature, depth, salinity, and dissolved oxygen concentration were made continuously with depth, and the concentrations of dissolved silica, phosphate, nitrate, and nitrite were measured. Measurements of freon, tritium concentrations and CO2 were made at selected levels. Continuous echo-sounding was maintained along the cruise track as well as ADCP current measurements.
