Cruise Inventory Information
Long name | FS Poseidon (06PO) cruise PO332 |
---|---|
Short name | PO332 |
Objectives and Narrative |
1. Obtain an improved temporal and spatial estimate of atmospheric dust inputs to the tropical N Atlantic through a dedicated SOLAS process cruise.
2. Obtain an improved estimate of the seawater dissolution of N, P, Fe and Zn species from aerosol dust. 3. Determine the influence dust exerts on phytoplankton carbon fixation, species diversity and nutrient cycling in surface waters. 4. Determine the impact of atmospheric dust derived micronutrients on microbial community production and species diversity in the surface microlayer and underlying waters. 5. Compare atmospheric dust collected at sea level with in-situ (aircraft) measurements of the microphysical properties of the airborne component. 6. An additional cruise objective was to retrieve a drifting telemetry buoy from the Rapid programme. |
