Objectives and Narrative |
OMEX is part of an EU-funded project on Ocean Margin Exchange. This cruise is one of a series of international cruises to study exchanges across the Iberian Shelf Break.
The specific aims of the cruise were to measure changes in biological production and plankton communities in two Lagrangian drift experiments. This leg studied the variations over a 10-day period in an off-shore filament. Measurements were made of phytoplankton, microzooplankton, mesozooplankton and bacteria: physical measurements included the use of Argos drifting buoys, ADCP and small scale turbulence measurements: chemical properties determined were nutrient concentrations, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity and pCO2. |
