GEOTRACES IDP2017 V2 Known Issues

1. Standard deviation of Pb Isotopes measurement from GA06 (D361).

Observation:

Data standard deviation values are a factor 2 too large for: Pb_206_204_TD_RATIO_BOTTLE, Pb_206_207_TD_RATIO_BOTTLE and Pb_208_207_TD_RATIO_BOTTLE.

Workaround:

Divide the standard deviation by 2 to obtain correct values.

2. Particulate Mn, Ni, Cu and Zn from GPpr01 (TAN0811).

Observation:

Data are a factor 1000 too large for the parameters: Mn_TP_CONC_PUMP, Ni_TP_CONC_PUMP, Zn_TP_CONC_PUMP.

Workaround:

Divide data values by 1000 to obtain correct data in correct units: Mn_TP_CONC_PUMP in [nmol/kg], Ni_TP_CONC_PUMP in [pmol/kg] and Zn_TP_CONC_PUMP in [pmol/kg]

3. Data from Bottle Number 845336 from GA03 (KN204-1).

Observation:

Data from this bottle should be flagged '4'.

Workaround:

None.

4. Tritium abundance from GA03 ( KN204-1, KN199-4) and GP16 (TN303).

Observation:

Negative Tritium (TRITIUM_D_CONC_BOTTLE) abundance data were flagged '3' at BODC. The data originator recommended flag '2' rather than flag '3'.

Workaround:

None.

5. Cd isotopic composition GPpr07 (Line P 2012-13, Line P 2013-18, Line P 2014-19).

Observation:

Data are a factor 10 too low for the parameters: Cd_114_110_D_DELTA_BOTTLE and for the standard deviation.

Workaround:

Multiply data values of the measurement and the standard deviation by 10 to obtain correct data in correct unit: Cd_114_110_D_DELTA_BOTTLE in [per mil].

6. Missing event GP16 (TN303).

Observation:

In-situ pump data from station 5 (BODC Bottles Number 1131131 , 1131134 , 1131137 , 1131140 , 1131143 , 1131146 , 1131149 and 1131152) are linked to the wrong station and time (merged with pump data from station 1).

Workaround:

The 'BODC Bottles Number' {1131131 , 1131134 , 1131137 , 1131140 , 1131143 , 1131146 , 1131149 and 1131152} have the following correct geographical coordinates:
Latitude [degrees_north]= -12.04483, Longitude [degrees_east]= 281.83317 and happening at Time= 2013-11-03T08:42:00Z.

7. Dissolved Vanadium (V) from GP16 (TN303).

Observation:

Data are a factor 1000 too low for V_D_CONC_BOTTLE.

Workaround:

Multiply data values by 1000 to obtain correct data in correct unit: V_D_CONC_BOTTLE in [nmol/kg].

8. Particulate biogenic silicon for large and small particles from GP16 (TN303).

Observation:

Data are a factor 1000 too large for bSi_LPT_CONC_PUMP, bSi_SPT_CONC_PUMP and their corresponding standard deviations.

Workaround:

Divide data values by 1000 to obtain correct data in correct units: bSi_LPT_CONC_PUMP in [nmol Si/kg] and bSi_SPT_CONC_PUMP in [nmol Si/kg]

9. Beryllium-7 in aerosol samples from GP16 (TN303).

Observation:

Beryllium-7 aerosol data (Be_7_A_T_CONC_HIVOL) from cruise GP16 are incorrectly labelled as available. They are also linked to the wrong originator name. The originator of these data is Prof David Kadko.

Workaround:

This Geotraces data set will be available in future IDP. Meanwhile, they can be found in BCO-DMO

10. Iron organic speciation from GA02 Leg2 (PE321).

Observation:

Iron organic speciation parameters: L1Fe_D_CONC_BOTTLE and L1Fe_D_LogK_BOTTLE from cruise GA02 Leg2, should be LFe_D_CONC_BOTTLE and LFe_D_LogK_BOTTLE respectively.
