Narrative Documents
Chelsea Technologies Aqualog CTD
The Aqualog is a self-contained unit designed to measure pressure, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and fluorometry in a variety of modes, including vertical profiling, towed undulator and short-term moorings.
It is controlled by a microprocessor and comprises a CPU board, a memory board, an ADC board, a power supply/supply control board and a backplane. This logger can cater for 16 analogue input channels, with 60000 or 250000 12 bit resolution data point capacity. Data communication is carried out over a RS232 interface and the data points are stored in non-volatile battery backed memory.
The technical details are presented below:
Logging regime | Configurable, intermittent or continuous modes |
---|---|
Maximum logging rate | 16 channels per second |
Analogue Input range options | -1 to 1 V -2 to 2 V -10 to 10 V |
Resolution | 1 in 4096 plus sign |
RV Clupea 10/96 CTD Data Documentation
Documentation for ctd data collected on R.V. Clupea cruise 10/1996 (5 - 14 July 1996) by Fisheries Research Services, Aberdeen.
The temperature and salinity data were collected using a Chelsea instrument which was calibrated using bottle samples and thermometer readings to produce the following equations:
T(cal) = T(obs)
C(cal) = 1.023995C(obs) - 0.885865
