The system intends to provide both real-time information and operational forecasts of weather and sea state for the Bulgarian coastal areas. Weather and oceanographic station will be installed in crucial points along the coast. The implementation of this task has initiated with launch of the Galata station located off of the cape Galata near Varna on the wellhead development platform. In the future identical stations will be installed in the major Bulgarian ports. The in-situ data, together with satellite data and meteorological forecasts will be used to produce operational forecast for the region. Currently, the system is extended on three sites: Galata platform, Petreco shore control centre-PSCC and the Institute of Oceanology Operational Data Centre-IO-ODC. To transfer data between these three sites, a communication system is developed, which consists of radio communication between platform and PSCC and Internet connection between PSCC and IO-ODC. The raw data are stored in the IO-ODC.
