North Sea, Kattegat, Belt Sea and western Baltic Proper plus The Wadden Sea, Ringkobing Fjord, Horsens Fjord

For surveying purposes macrozoobenthos has been sampled 1-3 times at some 200 stations within 9 areas in the above mentioned regions. A more extensive survey carried out in late 1988 covered 29 additional stations. In the spring of 1989 a time series including 21 of the 329 stations was started and has run since with sampling of zoobenthos and sediment in April and October (only 9 stations). Video and photography has supplemented the sampling from the survey from 1988 onwards. At the field stations in the Wadden Sea, Ringkobing Fjord and Horsens Fjord the benthic fauna is monitored in wading depth and results are published in the annual field station reports. The data include species, numbers, biomass measured as wet weight, dry weight and ash free dry weight, sediment grain size, and sediment wet weight, dry weight and organic content measured by combustion.
