| Summary | The project has periodically been funded by several national and international organizations (NATO, CEC, Greek Ministry of Agriculture, etc.) and aims at the assessment (size, distribution and movements) of the small pelagic species biomass, in the Aegean Sea, through large scale hydroacoustic surveys. Sardine and anchovy are the main target populations. Sampling is carried out with transects with 5 n.mi. spacing interval. Backscattering coefficients are calculated for different depth layers per 0.2 n.mi. |
