| Summary | Primary productivity and phytoplankton community structure were studied at 2 stations over the continental shelf (100 m depth) and slope (540 m depth) of the Cretan Sea on a bimonthly basis between July '94 to October '95. Water samples were collected from 10 standard depth layers: 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75 and 100 m. All data support the oligotrophic characterisation of the area. This study was part of the multidisciplinary EU MAST II MTP III project CINCS (contract MAS2-CT94-0092). |
