Current meters

Current meter data collected within the framework of 15 national and international projects are included in this data set. The set comprises 235 current meter series from 144 coastal and offshore moorings deployed between 1975 and 1992 in Aegean and Ionian Seas, in Corfu, Milos and Nisyros Islands, in Rio Straits and in Saronikos, Pagassitikos, Thermaikos, Patraikos, N. Euboikos, Amvrakikos and Lakonikos Gulfs. Data are stored as raw time series (having duration from 6 to 131 days) at each site with 10 minute values of speed, direction, temperature and conductivity. All data have been provided to the HNODC from the Physical Oceanographic Department of NCMR and will be formatted to MEDATLAS format and subjected to quality control.
