Geographical area

South Aegean Sea, Straits of the Cretan Arc

Observations
Parameters

Dissolved trace metalloid and inorganic selenium concentrations in water bodies

Description
Summary

Sampling was carried out at several stations by means of Go-Flo bottles which are non metallic water sampling bottles, coated by Teflon. Go-Flo bottles were attached to a CTD unit and were employed on CTD casts. The samples were transferred into 10 lt polyethylene bottles, using a closed system to avoid contamination. Trace elements data were used to assessment of the water mass exchanges and fluxes in the South Aegean Sea and particularly in the Straits of the Cretan Arc. A total of 31 stations were held during PELAGOS project. Data have been available to HNODC from the Chemical Oceanographic Department, NCMR.
