Parameters

Suspended particulate material aggregates

Description
Summary

In order to isolate the suspended particulate matter (SPM), seawater samples were filtered on board through 0.45 micrometre membrane filters using a vacuum pump system. SPM data are the amount of SPM present in 1 lt of seawater. These data aimed to determine the areal and vertical distribution of particulate matter. The chemical and morphological characteristics were inferred after chemical analysis and microscopic investigation. A total of 55 stations were held during the PELAGOS project.
