| Summary | Water samples were collected at five stations during four seasonal cruises from the surface microlayer (upper 1mm) and from the bulk water (1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 m) for pigment determination and photosynthetic productivity. Underwater spectral energy distribution was measured in situ with an underwater irradiance meter. That work was the first attempt in the area to study the chlorophylls a,b,c, the phaeophytins a,b, the phaeophytins c, the photosynthetic activity of phytoplankton and the underwater light penetration. A total of 17 stations were carried out during PELAGOS project. |
