Terrestrial water content

The purpose of the work was the biogeochemical characterization of the major Greek rivers and their qualitative comparison to other major European and World rivers. Moreover, the assessment of the origin of the hydrochemical character of river water, taking into consideration the catchments' geochemistry, the biological activity and the human's impact. For sampling and sample storage, standard procedures for aquatic monitoring were followed. In situ measurements were carried out with portable meters (dissolved oxygen was measured according to Winkler procedure). Samples were collected during four seasons from 42 river sites and a total of 27 parameters (besides the mineralogical analyses) were estimated. That makes a set of 42 X 4 X 27 = 4536 data.
