The project is carried out within the framework of the MED-POL Programme and it aims at monitoring the pollution parameters of the Saronikos Gulf. A network of 14 sampling stations and 4 near-shore coastal stations for mussel collection are visited seasonally. Fish samples are collected twice a year till 1995 and once a year from 1996 to present. Samples are analysed for metals (Cu, Cr, Cd, Ni, Zn, Fe, Mn) with an atomic absorption spectrophotometer and for chlorinated hydrocarbons (PCBs, DDTs, HCH, Aldrin, Endrin, Dieldrin) with a gas chromatograph.
