Observations
Parameters

Concentration of polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs) in biota; Chlorophyll pigment concentrations in water bodies; Dissolved oxygen parameters in the water column; Salinity of the water column; Secchi disk depth; Temperature of the water column; Zooplankton non taxonomy-related biomass expressed as carbon per unit volume of the water column; Metal concentrations in biota

Instruments

CTD; plankton nets; discrete water samplers; sediment grabs; unconsolidated sediment corers

Description
Summary

The project is carried out within the framework of the MED-POL Programme and it aims at monitoring the pollution parameters of the Korinthiakos Gulf. A network of 6 sampling stations and 2 near-shore coastal stations for mussel collection are visited twice a year. Fish samples are collected once a year. Samples are analysed for metals (Cu, Cr, Cd, Ni, Zn, Fe, Mn) with an atomic absorption spectrophotometer and for chlorinated hydrocarbons (PCBs, DDTs, HCH, Aldrin, Endrin, Dieldrin) with a gas chromatograph.
