Description
Summary

The aim of the study is the assessment of the Psittalia outfalls (Athens sewage treatment plant) on the Saronikos gulf ecosystem. Monthly data of temperature, salinity, turbidity, nutrients, dissolved oxygen, POC, DOC, phytoplankton, zooplankton were collected in the water column of the Inner Saronikos Gulf and Elefsis Bay, whereas seasonally data were collected in the Outer Saronikos Gulf and the western basin. Phytoplankton (chlorophyll-a) and zooplankton biomass were studied monthly; phytoplankton and zooplankton species composition was studied seasonally at selected stations. Phytobenthos (community composition and structure) data were collected seasonally and macrozoobenthos (community composition and structure) were collected once per year. Phytoplankton and phytobenthos productivity data were collected seasonally.
